Spring Valley man charged with attempted murder

A Spring Valley man was indicted by a grand jury for attempted murder after an alleged Sept. 5 slashing. Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh said in a news release Friday that Joshua Jamison, 32, was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim at 9:38 p.m. on Sept. 5 in front of 22 North Main Street in Spring Valley.

Walsh said Jamison brandished a knife during the dispute and slashed the victim across his neck. Police searched for Jamison for several days after fled the scene but was arrested by Spring Valley police on Sept. 8, according to Walsh.

Walsh said the victim survived but sustained a “life-threatening serious physical injury.”

Jamison is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
